Often performed with a facelift, a necklift involves an incision under the chin as access to remove any fat and bring together bands of the platysma muscle. This improves the neck contour restoring a more youthful appearance.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic and takes about 1 hour to complete. When performed alone it does not require an overnight stay but frequently is performed with a facelift. Stitches are removed at 7 days though some bruising may persist a little longer and sleeping with a few extra pillows can help to minimise this. Occasionally the neck can feel a little tight but this settles with time.
