Fine wrinkles in the skin of the forehead and around the eyes can be treated with Botox. This is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyses muscle and when injected into certain sites in the face reduces the wrinkles. It can be also used for excessive armpit sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis). No anaesthetic is needed and the procedure takes only a few minutes. Massaging the injected area afterwards should be avoided. The effects last 3-6 months. If you have a nerve related condition such as myasthenia gravis, are taking gentamicin-type antibiotics or have certain allergies e.g. to eggs then you should avoid Botox.
